For many years, plenty of investigations have been done on the effects caused by foods on the organism and the way they affect its functioning. The information obtained from all those years of investigation, has made it possible to have more diffusion, within the developed countries, about the healthier ways of eating. It’s for this reason that there are so many recommendations, even in specific cases, in relation to the consumption of certain products and the avoidance of some others. In spite of all these and the fact that more and more people are getting interested in these matters and becoming aware of them, it is still a process of mentally readapting, which is a very slow process, it implicates a deep change in the way people think of and consider the aliments. There are some eating habits that are very deeply-rooted and are very hard to change.

Most of the foods that are eaten, are composed of four elements: fats, carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins. Neither of them are prejudicial by themselves, however, they should be combined in the best way in order to get more benefits for the organism.

Fats
The organism needs fats in order to convert them into energy, however, there are three different types of fats: saturated fat, unsaturated fat and poliunsturated fat.

The first kind come from animals and is the less recommended because they are rich in cholesterol levels and calories as well. Some of the foods that contain higher quantities of these fats are: egg, butter, shellfish, some kind of fish and chocolate.

The polyunsaturated have a vegetable origin usually and are the most recommended of all, since they don’t cause cholesterol, but they decrease the levels of it. These kind of fats are mostly in vegetable oils or vegetable margarines. The daily eating of fats must be the 20 pre cent of the energetic supply for the body.

Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are also very necessary for the correct functioning of the organism, because they are also in charge of the energy production. However, this type of energy comes from the eating of sugars and starch as well. Sugars are the ones that are absorbed faster, and that is the reason why they are considered as almost immediate toner.

The foods that contain higher levels of carbohydrates are sweet foods in its vast variety (cakes, desserts, marmalades, and so on), and also cereals (bread and pasta).

However, it is not recommended to abuse of these aliments. For example, if you are going to drink a glass of milk which already has sugar, do not add any more unnecessary sugar to it.

Proteins
Proteins are fundamental for a healthy growing up, because they are the ones that take care of the building of the muscular tissue. Proteins are assimilated in the way of amino-acids which are converted back into new proteins. In order to get a good portion of this element, it is recommended the eating of cereals and legumes, mixed with milk or eggs. This way the eating of too many carbohydrates of animal fats is decreased.

Vitamins
The variety of fresh food that contains vitamins is very wide, the best you can do is to include many different ones in order to make a diet with more variations: legumes, vegetables, fruits, dairy products. Although it is recommended to balance the consume of the vitamins, for example if you know that oranges have plenty vitamin C, try to combine them with some other product that contains another vitamin so that you cover a wider quantity of vitamins with each meal. Another tip to point out is that the best way to consume these kind of products is with fresh aliments, non-cooked foods.
